Atascadero Art Association donates art supplies for Toys for Tots
All donations stay in the local area
– This year the Atascadero Art Association has again purchased art kits and supplies to donate to Toys for Tots for children and teens of needy local families. The association purchased the art kits from a local retailer. Also many people donated additional supplies. Members and family had a photo op with the supplies outside The Artery where the supplies were to be picked up.
Members from the Kiwanis were there to receive the donations. Atascadero Kiwanis started Toys for Tots about 40 years ago. They started by providing used toys with the Christmas food give away at St. Williams Catholic Church. Four years later, the toys went from used toys to new toys – one for each child.
For the last 20 or so years, Toys for Tots has combined with Coats for Kids and Loaves & Fishes at the Atascadero Armory for the Christmas giveaway. Toys for Tots collects and has available over 6.000 toys, books, and art supplies for distribution each year. All donations stay in the local area.
