Assistance League receives grant from Union Bank
Grant will assist in supporting Operation School Bell
–The Assistance League of San Luis Obispo County has received a $1,000 grant award from Union Bank. This grant will be used to purchase new school-appropriate clothing for disadvantaged students in grades Kindergarten through 12th grade, living and attending school throughout San Luis Obispo County.
“Union Bank is pleased to support the important work of Assistance League of San Luis Obispo County and its Operation School Bell philanthropic program,” said Charmaine Beth, Vice President Higuera Street Branch Manager of Union Bank.
The goal of Operation School Bell is to provide new school clothing to 2,000 disadvantaged students during the school year. We are on track to exceed that number which means Assistance League will clothe one in seven of our County’s students who are living in poverty. “Our chapter and its member volunteers are greatly appreciative of the support shown by Union Bank and its recognition for the important work we are doing within our local communities,” said Sue Pino, chapter president.
Assistance League is an all-volunteer, nonprofit organization with no paid staff dedicated to fostering academic success by boosting self-esteem and improving the lives of students in our County. To date, Assistance League has provided new school clothing to more than 26,000 students throughout its 23-year history.
