The exhibition will take place Jan. 4 – Feb. 20 at Art Center Morro Bay
– Art Center Morro Bay is set to host the 8th annual “For the Birds” exhibit, in conjunction with the Morro Bay Annual Bird Festival. The exhibit aims to promote an understanding and appreciation of birds and other wildlife, as well as raise awareness of environmental and conservation issues on the Central Coast.
The exhibition is scheduled to take place from Jan. 4 to Feb. 20 at the Art Center Morro Bay, located at 835 Main Street. The take-in for submitted artworks is on Jan. 2, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with a reception scheduled for Jan. 7 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Admission to the exhibit is free.
Artists are invited to focus their talents on creating pieces that celebrate the diverse bird species and wildlife habitats in the Morro Bay area. Positioned on the Pacific Flyway, Morro Bay is a globally important bird area and a designated state and national estuary. The Morro Coast Audubon Society consistently ranks among the top five in the Audubon Christmas Bird Count, with over 200 bird species typically observed each year.
Interested participants can submit up to three 2D wall-hung artworks, along with 10 notes, five matted prints, and three 3D pieces for consideration. For more information, artists can contact Art Center Morro Bay at (805) 772-2504 or visit www.artcentermorrobay.org.
