Artist Patricia Newton part of August exhibition
The exhibition will be at Marina Square
–Patricia Newton‘s works will be on show at the Gallery at Marina Square in Morro Bay starting Aug. 1 until Aug. 29 in a new exhibit.
The opening reception will be Saturday, Aug. 14, 5-7 p.m.
Newton initially went down a different career path than art, but she always kept painting on the side all while raising a family. Moving to the Central Coast of California caused her to fall in love with the landscape of hills and the sea, which inspired her to pursue her lifelong dreams of becoming a professional artist.
“The local landscape has had a profound impact on the artwork I create in oil,” said Newton.
She describes her style as representational, utilizing a glazing technique of many thin layers to create a translucent effect that provides depth and emanates light. Her current body of work has been deeply inspired by the sea and coastline.
Over the last 35 years, Newton has become an award-winning artist, a member of the Portrait Society of America, Oil Painters of America and currently serves as the president of the Morro Bay Art Association.
