Arrest warrants issued for man charged with abusing two-year-old girl

07-31-15 Paso Robles PD- Arrest for felony child abuse

Francisco Javier Chavez

– 27-year-old Paso Robles resident and Mexican national Francisco Javier Chavez, who was arrested for felony child abuse of a two-year-old girl on July 31 and then failed to appear at court, now has a warrant worth $600,000 out for his arrest, the San Luis Obispo Tribune reports.

Chavez reportedly had a criminal history, and was once deported back to Mexico in 2014. He posted a $100,000 bail on the night of July 31 and was released from county jail, and never appeared before a judge to face his charges.

Police had said that the victim had multiple fractures and other injuries that were inconsistent with the description of events reported by the child’s mother and Chavez, her live-in boyfriend. The report indicated that the child had initially been treated at Twin Cities Community Hospital before being transferred to the hospital in Madera due to the extent of her injuries. Sgt. Tod Rehner reportedly said that the child suffered two broken arms, a broken leg, multiple cuts and bruises and a significant urinary tract infection.
