Annual Hounds vs. Cats football game this Friday
–The Atascadero Greyhounds will face the Paso Robles Bearcats this Friday at Paso Robles’ War Memorial Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. for varsity and 4 p.m. for JV.
The Paso Robles/Atascadero rivalry is one of the longest running on the Central Coast. This game will have playoff implications as both teams are currently tied for second place in the PAC 5. The Greyhounds will bring a 7-2 record to Paso Robles. They hope to capitalize on a rushing attack led by seniors Mark Martin (841 yards, 116 carries) and RJ Reusche (812 yards, 125 carries). The Greyhounds are coming off a 24-10 loss to league-leading Arroyo Grande.
The Bearcats (5-4 overall, 2-1 PAC 5) are coming off a 30-0 league victory over Righetti last week. The Bearcats will bring am offense led by junior running back Christian Erickson. On the year, Erickson has rushed for 1347 yards on 170 carries with nine touchdowns. Senior quarterback Justin Davis has 86 completions for 938 yards.
The Bearcats will also be honoring their seniors from football, cheer, band, and dance before the game and during halftime. Friday Night Live programs from both schools have combined to provide a safe driving promotion during halftime. There will also be performances by the band, cheer, and dance teams.
Paso Robles Joint Unified School District personnel receive free admission by showing district ID card at any ticket gate.
