Adventures with scarecrows—an afternoon in Cambria

Photographer’s favorite. Edgar Allen Poe and the Derelict Pumpkin.
–Too many scarecrows and not enough time! The Cambria Scarecrow Festival, “Where whimsy runs rampant,” is winding up on Wednesday but must be added to everyone’s calendar for next year, and the next. Here are a few very creative and fanciful scarecrows that were standing around the streets of Cambria this year.
The Fisherman

This fisherman exhibits impressive detail.
Vincent van Gogh

Close up of Vincent

Vincent’s most recent painting. Might be worth a small fortune.
Too ghoulish

Ghoulish and frightening. It’s a good thing it was daylight!
There were scarecrows at every corner and places in between. The Cambria Scarecrow festival is an annual must visit. Click here to see more scarecrows from past years.
The nine-year old Cambria Scarecrow Festival has become a must-see annual event, featuring hundreds of scarecrows in Cambria, San Simeon and Harmony. The first festival in 2009 started with only 30 scarecrows and over the years has grown to hundreds of imaginative artistic creations. The festival has gained national attention and has been featured in the Los Angeles Times, the Chicago Tribune, ABCNews.com and Huffington Post. Don’t miss it! Visit the Cambria Scarecrow Festival website for more information about the festival.
