Adoptable pets of the week: Stewart, Todd and Megan

– This edition of North County Adoptable Pets of the Week features two cute cats, and a brave canine survivor of Hurricane Katrina.

From North County Humane Society, a no-kill cat shelter and adoption center in Atascadero, is Stewart and Todd: two orange cats that are looking for their forever homes.

Todd and Stewart are both available for adoption at North County Humane Society.

Stewart and brother Todd arrived at NCHS a few months ago. They came from a loving family, but the grand kids were extremely allergic to cats, and both cats couldn’t stay. Many tears were shed when the cats were left with the shelter.

Stewart and Todd are littermates about two years old. Both are friendly and outgoing – they would like to find loving homes with kids and other animals, and preferably together. They are neutered, microchipped and vaccinated – ready to join a new family today.

NCHS found homes for 331 cats and kittens last year and set a monthly record of 78 cat and kitten adoptions in June. Available cats and kittens can be seen on the website at www.slonchs.org. Potential pet parents are also encouraged to stop by and visit with the cats to find the right one for their family.

The North County Humane Society is located just off of Highway 101 by the Del Rio Road exit at 2300 Ramona Rd. in Atascadero. They are open Tuesday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Complete information is listed on the website, or call NCHS at (805) 466-5403, and ask for the “Crazy Cat Lady.”

Meagan is available for adoption at Second Chance at Love.

From Second Chance at Love, a dog rescue and sanctuary in Templeton that takes in abandoned, neglected, abused or unwanted dogs comes Megan, the last hurricane Katrina dog and longest resident of the rescue. Megan is a 10-year old pit bull mix who has waited years for a home. She’s good with other dogs and great with kids.

Megan was one of 30 dogs that Second Chance at Love rescued from Hurricane Katrina. She came in with an advance stage of heart worm, so bad it had to be treated twice. She’s now a very healthy dog but keeps getting looked over because of her age. She is very friendly and ready to find her human companion(s). For information about adopting Megan, visit the website or call (805) 434-3982.
