A-Town Skate Park preps for re-opening

The A-Town Skate Park.

–Since A-Town Park’s closure earlier this year due to COVID-19, indoor and outdoor preparation and maintenance activities have been ongoing throughout these past months to get the park ready and announcements will soon be made about a schedule for reopening the park’s outdoor facilities.

Kevin and Andrea Campion have been operating A-Town Park over the past 12 years. Most recently they’ve been prepping, sanitizing, and cleaning the inside and are focusing on updates and repairs to the outside of the park as well. Unfortunately, the outdoor area is in need of maintenance and repair before its reopening can take place. The City of Atascadero and the Campions are working together to repair surfaces and make things ready and safe to skate again.

A-Town Park offers 8,000 square feet of indoor plus 7,000 square feet of outdoor facilities for skate/scoot riders in a safe, supervised environment. Full rentals are available along with a full Pro Shop. A-Town Park’s very own professional scooter champion, Chris Farris, has been in the neighborhood, working on a video project that highlights A-Town Park

“A-Town Park was the first facility to encourage my love for scootering,” said Farris. “The first competition I ever rode in was at A-Town, the first sponsorship I had was from A-Town, and the first people to congratulate me in all my (future) global travel and competing, was A-Town.”

The Campions expressed that its people like Farris that have placed the sport of riding pro scooters on the map. Recently, Farris took 1st place in several of the International Scooter Association (ISA) competition for both Action Space, and Best Trick. Farris also took second in the ISA Worlds Park Final and is currently ranked #1 in the USA.

If you would like to donate to the maintenance/repair project, A-Town Park has set up a GoFundMe account at www.gofundme.com/f/atown-outdoor-park. If you wish to be a sponsor or volunteer to be part of the maintenance/repair project to assist A-Town Park in getting the park reopened, please contact A-Town Park at (805) 461-7606.
