Police rescue resident from early-morning house fire in Atascadero
Fire crews from several agencies contain bedroom fire in 15 minutes
– Atascadero police officers pulled a resident from a burning home on Rosario Avenue early Sunday, Nov. 1, before fire crews arrived, according to a press release from Atascadero Fire and Emergency Services.
A resident reported the fire at 4890 Rosario Ave. at 1:58 a.m. When the first battalion chief arrived, smoke was coming from the front and side of the single-story, single-family home. Police officers had already entered the residence, found the resident in a bedroom, and removed the person from the structure.
Paramedics from Atascadero Fire and Emergency Services and San Luis Ambulance treated the resident at the scene, then took the person to Twin Cities Community Hospital with burn injuries. A second resident was evaluated at the scene and did not need to go to the hospital.
Firefighters contained the fire to the bedroom, preventing it from spreading through the rest of the home. The fire was controlled in about 15 minutes, and crews stayed about two hours for salvage and investigation. The department sent 18 personnel to the scene. The cause is under investigation.
Atascadero Fire and Emergency Services was assisted by the Atascadero Police Department, Templeton Fire and Emergency Services, Paso Robles Fire and Emergency Services, Cal Fire, and San Luis Ambulance.
