– The Paso Robles & Templeton Chamber of Commerce has named Niels and Bimmer Udsen of Castoro Cellars the 2026 Templeton Citizens of the Year and Templeton Floor Company, led by Michael Torgerson, as Business of the Year. The honorees will be recognized at the annual Templeton Christmas Tree Auction on Thursday, Dec. 3.
According to the chamber, the Udsens have more than 50 years of roots in the greater Templeton area and have contributed to the local wine industry, environmental stewardship, and community enrichment. They founded Castoro Cellars in 1983 and have championed sustainable farming, supported local students, and helped create recreational and cultural opportunities, including the Whale Rock Music Festival and the Whale Rock Disc Golf Course.
Templeton Floor Company, locally owned and operated since 1979, is being recognized for its commitment to quality, integrity, and community support, the chamber said. Under Torgerson’s leadership, the company has given back through local sponsorships, donated materials, and support for community events and projects. The chamber noted that New Times named Templeton Floor Company Best Flooring Company in its 2026 Best of San Luis Obispo County awards.
The Christmas Tree Auction is an annual Templeton tradition that supports local nonprofit organizations through the sale of decorated Christmas trees. The event runs from 6 to 9 p.m. Dec. 3 at the American Legion Hall, 805 S. Main St. in Templeton. Individual tickets are $125; tables of eight are $1,000 and tables of 10 are $1,200, and include sponsorship recognition.
