Help wanted: Sales representative for local media & digital marketing

– Access Publishing has spent 20 years helping San Luis Obispo County businesses get found. We publish the San Luis Obispo County Visitors Guide, the premier tourist print publication in SLO County, as well as City & Wine Maps, area directories and other popular print products— placed in hotels, wineries, chambers of commerce and attractions countywide — plus Paso Robles Daily News and A-Town Daily News, both digital local news feeds.
We also build websites and provide SEO consulting. Many advertising clients have been with us for years because the products work.
What you’ll do
- Start with assigned accounts — a real book to service and grow, not a blank whiteboard — and earn commission on renewals as well as new sales.
- Sell print and digital advertising to wineries, restaurants, hotels, retailers and attractions across SLO County.
- Sell websites, digital marketing, and news advertising to businesses in Paso Robles, Templeton, Atascadero, San Luis Obispo, and the rest of the county (Arroyo Grande, Pismo Beach, Grover Beach, Morro Bay, Los Osos, Cambria, and surrounding communities).
- Prospect, set meetings, present, close, and keep the relationship after the sale.
Most days are in the field: calls in the morning, appointments in the afternoon, Paso Robles office as home base. This is consultative selling, not a one-call close.
Who this is for
- A year or more selling to small business owners, in any industry. Media experience is a plus, not a requirement.
- You ask questions, diagnose the business, and recommend a package — you don’t just pitch a rate card.
- You’re comfortable on the phone, in a meeting, and walking into a shop unannounced.
- You’re goal-oriented, self-directed, and organized in the field.
- You have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Pay and schedule
- Base salary plus uncapped commission on new sales and renewals.
- Realistic first-year earnings of $45,000–$75,000; strong sellers will exceed that.
- Written commission agreement provided before your start date.
- Driving stipend, paid time off, and a Monday–Friday field-based schedule.
