Templeton Library receives $10,000 community grant

Grant will support books, materials, programs, and services at the donor-funded library

– The Templeton Community Library Association has received a one-year, $10,000 general operating grant from The Community Foundation San Luis Obispo County to support ongoing services at Templeton Library.

The funding will supplement the library’s existing programs and help provide books, materials, and services related to the Templeton Community Library Association’s mission of promoting literacy, the arts, and community engagement.

Templeton Library relies on volunteers to assist patrons, support reading and educational programs, and help maintain the library. Volunteers also participate in fundraising activities to generate revenue for the library’s operations.

Templeton Library is a donor-funded public library. Templeton residents pay 1.6% of their property taxes for county library services, but Templeton Library receives no county taxpayer funding.

Those tax dollars support the county’s 14 library branches. Templeton Library depends on donations, grants, fundraising, and volunteers to keep its doors open.

The Community Foundation San Luis Obispo County awarded the grant for one year.
