Crews contain fire in rural SLO County to 2,588 acres
– The Plains Fire reached 100% containment Thursday after burning 2,588 acres in San Luis Obispo County, according to Cal Fire.
The fire started at 12:35 p.m. Wednesday near Soda Lake Road and the Carrizo Plain. Officials continue to investigate the cause.
Firefighters stopped the fire’s forward progress at 8:25 p.m. Wednesday. The fire had burned approximately 2,500 acres and reached 15% containment as of 6:53 p.m.
Containment increased to 20% by 6:26 a.m. Thursday and 35% by 7:45 a.m. Firefighters worked to strengthen and improve containment lines throughout the day.
Cal Fire reported that the fire reached 100% containment at 4:55 p.m. Thursday. The agency last updated the incident page at 6:04 p.m.
