Fire displaces four residents from Atascadero home
No injuries reported; investigators have not determined cause
– A residential fire displaced four people Sunday afternoon on Castano Avenue, according to a press release from Atascadero Fire and Emergency Services.
Multiple people reported the fire at 4:46 p.m. Aug. 9 at 7580 Castano Ave. The first crew to arrive found a single-family home fully involved in flames, with the fire spreading to vegetation behind the residence.
Firefighters attacked the structure fire and the burning vegetation, stopping the flames before they reached neighboring homes. Crews could not safely enter the residence until they had knocked down the fire because of damage to the structure.
Firefighters controlled the emergency within 30 minutes. No residents or emergency personnel sustained injuries.
The response included 18 personnel from Atascadero Fire and Emergency Services, Atascadero State Hospital Fire Department, Templeton Fire and Emergency Services, San Luis Obispo County Fire Department, and Paso Robles Fire and Emergency Services.
Investigators identified the front porch as the fire’s area of origin. The cause remains under investigation.
