Law enforcement officers mentor youth at Atascadero camp
Organizers plan to bring the camp back in summer 2027
– The Women in Blue Leadership Camp brought together local, state, and federal law enforcement professionals to mentor young people in the Atascadero community, according to a recent social media post made by Atascadero Police Department.
Guest speakers included Officer Braun, Sgt. Netz, and Code Enforcement Officer Tomac of the Atascadero Police Department; Probation Officer Tarkington of the San Luis Obispo County Probation Department; Special Agent Gaines of the Federal Bureau of Investigation; District Attorney Investigator Chastain of the San Luis Obispo County District Attorney’s Office; Officer Pipan and K-9 Dex of the Cal Poly Police Department; Officer Knight of the California Highway Patrol; and Officer Tatum of the California Department of Fish and Wildlife.
Braun created the camp as part of his work as a school resource officer. Atascadero Recreation Division staff helped organize the event.
