Atascadero Community Band announces return of free summer concerts

Members of the band perform Dixieland Jamboree at a recent concert.

– The Atascadero Community Band will begin its free summer concert series, “Tuesdays in the Park,” on June 9 at the Centennial Bandstand in Atascadero Lake Park.

The weekly concert series will run each Tuesday through Aug. 18. Concerts are one hour long and begin at 7 p.m.

According to the organization, each concert will feature a different guest conductor from San Luis Obispo County.

The June 9 concert will feature guest conductor Sharon Jeskey of San Luis Obispo High School. The program will include a French horn feature and a big band vocal arrangement with a guest vocalist.

The Kiwanis Club will offer barbecue dinners before the June 9 and June 23 concerts, beginning at 5 p.m. Tickets cost $25 and may be purchased in advance at the Atascadero Chamber of Commerce, from Kiwanis members, or at the event.

The Atascadero Community Band is an all-volunteer nonprofit organization open to musicians of all ages.
