Sheriff’s Office says Kristin Smart’s remains not recovered during property search

Smart was a Cal Poly freshman when she was reported missing in May 1996.

Detectives continue reviewing items recovered during the search

– The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office has concluded its search at the property of Susan Flores in the 500 block of East Branch Street in Arroyo Grande, according to an update released Saturday at 2:45 p.m.

“We did not recover Kristin Smart,” the Sheriff’s Office said in the statement.

Detectives will evaluate any evidence recovered during the search to aid in the investigation, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

“The Sheriff’s Office remains fully committed to finding Kristin and bringing her home to her family,” the statement said.

The Sheriff’s Office said no further information is available and that it will not make additional comments or provide further updates regarding the investigation.
