Free concert in Atascadero to support local outreach

– The Atascadero Community Band will present a free concert titled “Across America – Our Country in Music” on May 3 at 3 p.m. at Atascadero Bible Church.
The performance will mark the 250th anniversary of the United States and feature a program highlighting music connected to the nation’s history and regions. Selections will include “America the Beautiful,” “The Star-Spangled Banner,” marches, and pieces such as “Grand Canyon Suite,” “Kentucky 1800,” and “River Songs of the South.” The program will also include blues, folk, and American dance styles.
Admission, parking, and refreshments will be free. Donations will be accepted, with proceeds benefiting 805 Street Outreach.
The band also reported donations from recent performances. Its December concert, “A Holly Jolly Folly,” resulted in a donation of $837 to the Toy Bank of Greater Paso Robles. Its March concert raised $1,192 for The I’s Have It, with funds presented to 805 Movement and Performance Arts.
