5th grade class forms ‘Tempelton Action Group’

Students inspired by a book called ‘Slacker’ about a youth and his relationship with his community
– Inspired by a book they read in class, five 5th graders at Vineyard Elementary School in Templeton set out to beautify their community.
Wednesday afternoon, the “Templeton Action Group” cleared overgrown weeds and planted lavender and poppy seeds to provide a better view of a Templeton sign. The sign was created originally by Templeton Middle School “Makers Space” class students as an auction item for TUSD fundraising. It faces north at the north end of Main Street in Templeton.
Student Damian Rodgriquez.
The students are in Kim Stephenson’s 5th-grade class at Vineyard Elementary School. They read a book called “Slacker” about a youth and his relationship with his community. That’s where they got the idea for the “Templeton Action Group.”
The group is identified as Bentley, Damian, George, Grace, and Riley. They’re all 5th graders.
No word if there’s another beautification project planned.
