Mid-State Fair hosting craft classes for aspiring competitors

Entrants compete for ribbons and recognition in front of thousands of fair guests

– The California Mid-State Fair is inviting San Luis Obispo County residents to enter its Community Exhibits Competitions as the fair marks its 80th year.

The competitions are open to all ages and skill levels, with entry categories including crochet, baking, painting, growing, building, photography, and crafting.

To help participants prepare entries, the fair is launching a monthly crafting class series. The first session, a crochet class, will be held Wednesday, March 25, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Paso Robles Event Center’s Frontier Building. The class is open to adults 18 and older, with a suggested donation of $10. The deadline to register is March 20.

Participants will learn to crochet and complete a project to be entered in the fair’s Exhibits Department.

Entries in the Community Exhibits Competitions are displayed for fair guests, and participants compete for ribbons and recognition.

The California Mid-State Fair runs July 15-26. This year’s theme is Back to the ’80s.
