Workforce program video receives national Viddy Award

Program operates in San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, and Ventura counties

– The Tri-Counties Workforce Development Boards announced that the High Roads Construction Careers graduation video, “Your Future Starts Here,” received a Gold Viddy Award. The video was produced by Consortium Media.

The award recognizes excellence in video creation, production, and storytelling. The video highlights graduates of the High Roads Construction Careers program, a pre-apprenticeship pathway supported and funded by the California Workforce Development Board in coordination with the California Labor and Workforce Development Agency through annual state fund allocations.

The High Roads Construction Careers program operates across San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, and Ventura counties and brings together local building and construction trades councils, workforce development boards, educational partners, and community-based organizations. The program provides structured training, a standard core curriculum, and direct pathways into state-certified apprenticeships.

The video focuses on the experiences of program graduates who pursued training, mentorship, and career opportunities in the construction trades. The program supports workforce access for residents across the three counties and connects participants with long-term career pathways.

“We are honored to receive this Gold Viddy Award and proud of our collaboration with Consortium Media,” said Andrea Sanchez, senior workforce development program manager of the Workforce Development Board of Ventura County. “This recognition underscores the impact of the High Roads Construction Careers program and the determination of every graduate whose journey is featured in the video.”

The Viddy Awards are administered by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals and are in their 30th year. Entries are evaluated by senior-level professionals who assess creative and technical achievement in video communication.

More information about the High Roads Construction Careers program is available at www.tricountyhrcc.org. Applications are not currently open, and future training cycles will be announced at a later date.
