Templeton Community Services District seeks applicants for standing committees

– The Templeton Community Services District is seeking members of the public to serve on internal standing committees that review projects, financial reports and informational items and make recommendations to the Board of Directors.

The district is an independent government agency that provides water, sewer, fire and emergency services, solid waste, parks and recreation, and limited drainage and street lighting services for about 8,000 residents.

Committees meet three to five times per year on an as-needed basis, typically during regular business hours. Members must be at least 16 years old and reside within the Templeton Community Services District boundaries. Members must comply with the district’s Conflict of Interest Code and file a Statement of Economic Interest Form 700 under the Fair Political Practice Commission. More information on Form 700 is available at https://www.fppc.ca.gov/content/dam/fppc/NSDocuments/TAD/Form%20700/2024-25/Ref_Pamphlet_2024.pdf.

The district’s standing committees are:

  • Administration/Finance Committee, which addresses financial management, including preparation of the annual budget, major expenditures and the annual audit. When policies, programs or projects need attention, the committee makes recommendations to the Board of Directors.
  • Water and Wastewater Utilities Committee, which addresses water and wastewater facilities, including maintenance and operations of the wastewater treatment plant, lift stations, wells and the distribution system. When policies, programs or projects need attention, the committee makes recommendations to the Board of Directors.
  • Fire and Emergency Management Committee, which addresses the fire department’s effectiveness, efficiency, incident response, property preservation and the health, safety and wellness of the community. It also addresses the formation of an emergency team comprised of district staff, analysis of the district’s capabilities and hazards, and development of plans to achieve the district’s emergency response goals. When policies, programs or projects need attention, the committee makes recommendations to the Board of Directors.
  • Parks, Recreation and Refuse Committee, which addresses oversight of recreation policies, programs and projects and parks, and oversees the franchise agreement for solid waste and recycling services to ensure service within the district boundaries. When policies, programs or projects need attention, the committee makes recommendations to the Board of Directors.
  • Measure A Oversight Committee, which independently reviews and informs the public and the Board of Directors about the expenditure of parcel tax revenues approved by district voters in 2019 to fund Templeton Fire and Emergency Services 24/7 staffing, and ensures revenues are spent as intended by voters.

Applications are due by Jan. 6. Committee members will be selected at the Jan. 20 Board of Directors meeting.
