Beginning oil painting workshop series offered in Morro Bay

– The Art Center Morro Bay is offering a 12-week oil painting workshop in three separate sessions this fall, led by instructor Anita Hampton.
Session 1 ran from Sept. 4 to Sept. 25. Session 2 is scheduled for Oct. 2 to Oct. 23, and Session 3 will take place from Oct. 30 to Nov. 20. Classes meet on Thursdays from 6 to 8:30 p.m.
The cost for one session of four classes is $135 for members and $145 for non-members. Two sessions, totaling eight classes, are $262 for members and $276 for non-members. The full series of three sessions, which includes 12 classes, is $392 for members and $413 for non-members. The workshop is open to adults 18 and older.
Hampton’s class, titled “Anyone Can Learn to Oil Paint,” introduces students to materials and techniques of oil painting. Participants will practice painting still life set-ups while learning color theory, value, perspective, lighting, design, and composition.
Hampton, a plein air painter and longtime teacher, aims to guide students through skills and principles that build confidence.
