The Chop Shop in Atascadero launches new family-friendly monthly event
First event will take place Saturday, Oct. 4
– The Chop Shop, a vintage auto–themed axe-throwing and entertainment venue in downtown Atascadero, is launching Family LEGO Outlaw Racing, a new monthly event for children and families.
The first event will take place Saturday, Oct. 4, from 1 to 3 p.m. at The Chop Shop and continue on the first Saturday of each month. Families will build, customize, and race LEGO creations mounted on pinewood derby bases down a four-lane track.
Prizes will be awarded for Fastest Car, Best Build, Craziest Design, and Crowd Favorite.
“This is about giving families a place to unplug, be creative together, and have a blast,” said Matt Corning, co-owner of The Chop Shop. “Kids light up when their car hits the track, and parents love the balance of STEM-style creativity and good old-fashioned racing fun.”
The event is recommended for ages 5 and up, with parental supervision required for children under 8. Space is limited to 30 racers per event, and advance reservations are encouraged.
Pricing is $15 per child, $40 for a family pack of up to four racers, and $15 per additional racer.
The Chop Shop also offers axe throwing, Dirty Soda creations, and live events. The business continues to expand its offerings as a hub for community entertainment and group experiences in downtown Atascadero.
