Sergeant injured Sept. 3 in crash on Highway 101 near Shell Beach Road
– A GoFundMe has been organized to support San Luis Obispo Police Department Sgt. Joshua Walsh and his family as he recovers from a motorcycle accident.
On the morning of Wednesday, Sept. 3, Walsh was involved in a crash on Highway 101 near Shell Beach Road while on his way to work. He suffered severe injuries, was taken to Sierra Vista Hospital, and then airlifted to an out-of-area trauma center for emergency care.
Walsh is undergoing multiple surgeries and is expected to remain hospitalized for an extended period. His recovery will require significant rehabilitation.
His wife, Suzie, and his family are staying with him at the hospital. Organizers said the family is facing expenses for medical care, travel, lodging, food, and lost income.
Sofia Marques is organizing the fundraiser.
“Josh has dedicated his career to serving and protecting the San Luis Obispo community. Now, he and his family need our support,” the fundraiser statement said.
Donations will help offset costs and allow the family to focus on Walsh’s recovery.
As of Tuesday morning, $20,780 has been raised towards a $50,000 goal. Click here to donate.
