Templeton, California
– Vicky Lee Simpson, 75, passed away peacefully at home in the care of her family on May 13, 2025.
Vicky was born January 19, 1950 in Dayton, Ohio to Marjorie and Lee Fisher and was raised by Mitch and Marjorie Greer, first in Eaton, OH and then in Franklin, OH where she attended Franklin Middle and High School.
Growing up Vicky was a member of The Rainbow Girls, active in her church and a majorette in high school. In addition to her many best friend cousins in Eaton, Vicky made many fast friends once in Franklin Middle School, which was also where she met her sweetheart, David Simpson, who eventually became her lifelong husband. In lieu of graduating from Franklin High School, Vicky started her life with David June 3, 1967 and subsequently their small family. As a married couple and young family of a girl and baby boy, they ventured across the states to California in 1970. Many years of hard work and traveling the state landed them finally in Ojai, California when they bought their first full service bakery, The Village Pastry. Vicky had three children with David and through the years they owned two full service bakeries, four donut shops, and a Soda Shop Restaurant. All worked with love and dedication by their whole family.
In Vicky’s later years, after the last of their donut shops was sold, Vicky took on two new careers as her semi retirement plan. First was as a California real estate agent and second a custodian at Atascadero State Hospital almost simultaneously as she studied to achieve her GED. All of which she was very successful in achieving. Vicky was a shining example of a hard working woman, radiating energy and laughter wherever she went, whatever she was doing. Whether at one of her many bakeries, like Templeton Donuts, where people came for her smile and stayed for conversation or as a real estate agent, where she would go above and beyond, vacuuming floors, bringing flowers and truly listening to her clients. Vicky’s heart of gold inspired all who knew her, some saying her presence was a ray of sunshine in their day and throughout her life friends became family. Her contagious laughter was a gift to everyone and a family trait that is cherished. She instilled in her children the value of hard work and discipline, while also teaching them to cherish time with family and to always find time for fun.
Vicky is survived by her mother, Marjorie Greer, her three children Kim Emard (Tony), Scott Simpson (Nichole) and Amy Lege (Darren), her brothers Terry Fisher (Pamela) and Mitch Greer (Peaches), her seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren and five nieces and nephews that were all so grateful to have known and learned from her. Vicky’s Celebration of Life will be in her favorite place, Cayucos. Vicky and David will be laid to rest in Templeton Cemetery together forever. Details on both to be shared at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations for research in Lewy Body Disease to The Lewy Body Dementia Association. Thank you for loving on our Mother, she felt it always.
