City hosting summer kick-off for farmers market event

'Summer Sizzle' kicks off at Atascadero Farmers' Market

– The City of Atascadero and North County Farmers Market will host a summer kick-off event on Wednesday, June 18, from 3 to 5:30 p.m. at the Downtown Farmers Market held in the sunken gardens.

The event celebrates the start of Open Farm Days, which begins Friday and runs through the weekend, highlighting farmers along the San Luis Obispo County Farm Trail.

The event will feature live music by Talie and James, also known as Burning James, and offer cider and wine tasting by Bristol’s Cider House and Lone Madrone Winery. Tasting options will be available for purchase.

Farmers from the San Luis Obispo County Farm Trail will be present to promote the upcoming Open Farm Days weekend. Attendees can also play cornhole and enter a drawing to win a basket of farmers market goods while shopping the market.

The event begins at 3 p.m. and visitors are encouraged to stay and enjoy local merchants, restaurants, drink establishments and entertainment throughout the downtown area.
