Cal Fire plans prescribed burn east of Santa Margarita this week
Crews plan to burn 17 acres as part of vegetation management
– Cal Fire San Luis Obispo will conduct a prescribed burn on Tuesday, June 3, in collaboration with private landowners, the San Luis Obispo County Air Pollution Control District and the San Luis Obispo County Community Fire Safe Council.
Crews plan to burn approximately 17 acres of vegetation in a controlled effort that will begin around 10 a.m. The burn will take place on private lands approximately 20 minutes east of Santa Margarita, on Seven Oaks Way, between Las Pilitas Road and Parkhill Road.
This operation is designed to reduce the accumulation of flammable vegetation and enhance ecosystem health by promoting native species and improving biodiversity. It is part of Cal Fire’s ongoing Vegetation Management Program.
Fire personnel will remain on site throughout the operation to ensure safe execution under favorable weather conditions. Smoke may be visible in surrounding areas. Residents are advised not to report the fire unless it is an emergency unrelated to this operation.
