City schedules closures on El Camino Real for road work

Road will have temporary detours, intermittent closures this week

– El Camino Real, between Highway 41 and Traffic Way, will have temporary detours and intermittent closures during the week of April 14 through April 18 to coincide with reduced school traffic during spring break.

The street remains open, and closures will only occur in areas with active construction. Access to downtown sidewalks, surrounding streets, and businesses remains available. Free downtown parking is open on nearby streets and in public parking lots, including the City Hall lot.

The work includes milling, paving, and installation of crosswalk concrete and pavers. Roadway paving is expected to be completed by Friday, April 18. Crews will post message and directional signs to guide drivers through detour routes. Motorists are advised to watch for signage and expect delays near construction areas.

The roadwork is part of a broader project aimed at improving the safety, economic activity, parking capacity, and appearance of the El Camino Real corridor between Highway 41 and Rosario Avenue.
