Avila Beach man arrested after drug, ammunition investigation
– A man found intoxicated and injured on a sidewalk in San Luis Obispo was later arrested on multiple drug and ammunition charges, police said.
Officers were dispatched at 10:45 p.m. on Feb. 14 to 43 Higuera for a welfare check on a man lying on the sidewalk. When they arrived, they found Angel Resendez, 44, of Avila Beach, bleeding from a head injury and highly intoxicated.
While waiting for emergency medical services, officers found a Louis Vuitton bag next to Resendez containing a wallet, identification, nearly $8,000 in cash, several cell phones, and a plastic bag with 35.5 grams of white powder. The substance later tested positive for cocaine.
Resendez was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Detectives later obtained a search warrant for his residence and vehicles, where they found additional narcotics and ammunition.
Resendez was arrested and charged with felony possession of a controlled substance, felony possession of narcotics with intent to sell, felony possession of narcotics with two prior convictions, and felony possession of ammunition as a convicted felon.
