Local wineries, businesses raise funds for homeless pets

More than 75 businesses join Wine 4 Paws event

– The 17th annual Wine 4 Paws fundraiser will return to San Luis Obispo County on April 26-27, 2025, to support Woods Humane Society. More than 75 wineries, cideries, olive oil producers, and other local businesses will donate 10 percent of their proceeds from the weekend to help shelter dogs and cats in need.

Since its inception in 2009, Wine 4 Paws has raised more than $700,000 for Woods Humane Society. The weekend’s events include wine tastings, special sales, and ticketed activities such as paint-your-pet parties, wine-paired dinners, vineyard dog walks, and wine-blending seminars.

The fundraiser will begin with the Hayseed & Housdon Kick-Off Party on Friday, April 25, 2025, at Cal Coast Beer in Paso Robles.

Woods Humane Society CEO Emily L’Heureux emphasized the importance of Wine 4 Paws in the shelter’s efforts. “We are seeing crisis-level numbers of dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens in need of shelter across the state as the costs of providing shelter continue to rise,” L’Heureux said. “Wine 4 Paws is essential to help us respond to these demands and save the lives of up to 3,000 pets in 2025.”

Sarah Tomasetti, the event organizer, expressed her excitement about the community’s involvement. “With so many animals in need this year, I can’t wait to see how much impact our county’s many wine and pet enthusiasts can have in one fun weekend,” Tomasetti said. “Come enjoy all that the Central Coast has to offer while helping Woods Humane Society continue to care for homeless animals in our community.”
