Parents invited to kindergarten enrollment events at local schools
– Families with children entering kindergarten and transitional kindergarten in the Atascadero Unified School District can attend upcoming parent information events at their school of residence. Parents are encouraged to contact their school for details regarding the events.
Information events:
- Monterey Road Elementary will host an event on Thursday, Feb. 27, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
- San Benito Elementary and San Gabriel Elementary will hold events on Wednesday, Feb. 26. San Benito’s session will take place from 5:30 p.m. to 6 p.m., while San Gabriel’s event is scheduled from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
- Santa Margarita Elementary and Santa Rosa Academic Academy will also hold events on Wednesday, Feb. 26, from 5:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., respectively.
- Parents should contact Carrisa Plains Elementary at (805) 475-2244 and Creston Elementary at (805) 238-4771 for event details.
Enrollment requirements:
- Children must be five years old on or before Sept. 1 to enroll in kindergarten.
- Children turning five between Sept. 2, 2025, and Sept. 1, 2026, are eligible for transitional kindergarten.
- The initial enrollment period runs from March 1 through March 31.
Parents are encouraged to attend their school’s Parent Information Night and obtain an information packet.
Enrollment can be completed online at the Atascadero Unified School District website (atasusd.org) under the “For Parents” section. Completed registration documents must be returned to the school of residence between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. starting March 1.
Registration is not considered complete until all required documents are submitted.
