Atascadero to celebrate Día de los Muertos at Fall First Fridays
Ofrenda remembrance altar will be set up outside Atascadero City Hall facing Sunken Gardens
– Atascadero will celebrate Día de los Muertos during the Fall First Fridays event on Nov. 1, starting at 5:30 p.m. in Downtown.
Festivities will include entertainment and food and drink specials throughout the area. The evening will begin with a performance by the Paso A Pasito Dance Group at Historic City Hall, followed by live music from Big Wheel Cobra, a rock band featuring members from Truth About Seafood and other local bands.
Attendees can enjoy food from the popular food truck Huatulco Taco, along with family activities such as face painting and a sugar skull decorating station. A Mariachi band will also perform throughout downtown. The A-Town Art Hop, organized by the A-Town Art Hop Group and the Downtown Business Improvement District, will showcase local artists, live music, art exhibits, and participation from over 30 local businesses.
An ofrenda remembrance altar will be set up outside Atascadero City Hall facing Sunken Gardens. Community members are encouraged to bring photos of loved ones or pets who have passed away to remember them during the celebration. The ofrenda will be available for viewing from Oct. 30 to Nov. 4. Photos should be picked up by Nov. 4, and no candles are permitted at the ofrenda.
The next Fall First Friday event will be on Dec. 6 at 5:30 p.m., featuring family-friendly activities for “Light Up the Downtown” and the Atascadero Chamber’s Holiday Sip & Shop, along with the debut of “Garden Lights & Winter Nights” in Sunken Gardens.
