Atascadero firefighters contain hay trailer fire

No injuries reported from the incident

– On Saturday at 2:54 p.m., Atascadero Fire and Emergency Services responded to a report of a vehicle fire involving a pickup truck towing a flatbed trailer carrying hay bales. Fire crews arrived at 6280 Morro Rd. to find the trailer’s 48 hay bales fully engulfed in flames, though the fire had not extended to the truck.

Firefighters engaged in suppression efforts to contain the blaze, successfully limiting the fire to the trailer and preventing its spread to the vehicle. Some flames had reached nearby vegetation, but fire personnel quickly contained the spread. The operation took approximately one hour to complete, with assistance from the City’s backhoe to fully extinguish the remaining hay.

Units dispatched included B7510, E7591, and E7592, and a total of 10 personnel were on scene. No injuries to firefighters or civilians were reported. The origin and cause of the fire remain undetermined.
