Atascadero Chamber, police department launch unhoused business toolkit
Toolkit is designed to support community members, local businesses, and organizations by providing essential resources and guidance
– The Atascadero Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the Atascadero Police Department, has introduced the Atascadero Unhoused Business Toolkit. The initiative, launched on Oct. 14, provides resources and answers to common questions for community members affected by homelessness. The toolkit focuses on treating all citizens with kindness and respect while offering effective ways to assess and respond to situations involving unhoused individuals.
The toolkit is designed to support community members, local businesses, and organizations by providing essential resources and guidance. The toolkit promotes a compassionate approach, aiming to empower the community and ensure access to necessary resources when issues arise.
“This toolkit is not just about providing resources for community members; it’s about creating a culture of kindness and understanding. We are committed to addressing homelessness with compassion and support,” said Josh Cross, president and CEO of the Atascadero Chamber.
Key features of the toolkit include guidance on how to be courteous, informed, and prepared; information on what not to do; methods for assessing and responding to situations with unhoused individuals; and steps for handling escalated situations.
The chamber and police department encourages all community members to use the toolkit as a resource and guide. They emphasize the importance of working together to create a more inclusive and supportive environment for all residents.
