Veterans of Foreign Wars Post donates to veteran food pantry

Pantry supports local veterans and addresses veteran homelessness in the county

– The County of San Luis Obispo Veterans Services Office has recently accepted a $400 donation from Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 2814 in Atascadero. The donation will be used to stock the office’s veteran food pantry, which supports local veterans and addresses veteran homelessness in the county.

The funds were raised during an event organized by the post, which featured a performance by the Shawn Clark Family Band. The band donated their performance wages to the fundraiser, contributing to the event’s overall impact. A 50/50 raffle was also held, with proceeds adding to the total donation amount.

“Our veterans have given so much for our country, and it’s our duty to support them in their times of need,” said Commander JonPaul Bockman of VFW Post 2814. “We are incredibly grateful to the Shawn Clark Family Band for their generous contribution and everyone who participated in the raffle. We hope this donation will inspire other veteran service organizations in the area to join us in the fight against veteran homelessness. Together, we can make a real difference and ensure that no veteran has to face hunger or homelessness.”

The food pantry is located outside the Veterans Services Office on Grand Avenue and is available to veterans in need of non-perishable food for themselves and their families during regular working hours.
