Measure B proposes funding for Atascadero school facility upgrades
– Voters will have the opportunity in November to support Measure B, a General Obligation Bond proposal that would provide $110 million in funding for the Atascadero Unified School District, according to a recent press release sent by the office of the superintendent.
If approved, the bond would finance various projects aimed at enhancing educational opportunities and improving campus facilities.
Measure B funds would be allocated to several key areas, including renovating vocational and career technical facilities, upgrading STEAM classrooms and labs, and expanding classroom workshops for hands-on learning in fields such as robotics, coding, woodworking, and computer programming. Safety upgrades would also be prioritized to ensure secure and healthy environments for students and staff, while accessibility needs would be addressed to make all facilities usable for all.
The measure also includes the creation of an Independent Citizens Oversight Committee, which would review and report on all bond-related expenditures to ensure funds are used effectively and transparently. Measure B funds are protected from state diversion, ensuring that all money remains within the Atascadero Unified School District. The bond would cost taxpayers less than $46 per $100,000 of assessed property value.
