Family cat remains missing

– A GoFundMe has been organized on behalf of the family displaced by Tuesday’s house fire.

The GoFundMe page, organized by Vivienne Stowe on behalf of Jared Roza, said it’s attempting to raise funds for “basic necessities and food for this family during this tragic time.” The family also reportedly lost a vehicle in the fire.

The GoFundMe page reads:

A local, long-time, Atascadero family lost their house to a fire on 07/02/2024. Some family members were taken to the hospital with injuries. Thankfully the animals are all safe but please keep an eye out for a white and orange tabby cat named Scappy. He was thrown out the window to be saved and hasn’t been located since the tragedy.

We are hoping to raise funds for basic necessities and food for this family during this tragic time.

Jared Roza and his family have agreed to this GoFundMe for community help. I am their neighbor, if you have any material items or food gift cards, please message me and I’d be happy to meet you so I can give them the items directly. Thank you for all your help.

Update: Three injured in Atascadero house fire

– The City of Atascadero has released more information about the two fires that occurred in Atascadero on Tuesday.

Cristobal Fire 

The structure fire that occurred at 7860 Cristobal Ave in a single-family residence at 3:15 p.m. Tuesday as reported by an occupant.

Emergency response units dispatched to the scene included Atascadero Fire, Atascadero State Hospital Fire, Paso Robles Fire, Templeton Fire, Cal Fire, San Luis Ambulance, and Atascadero Police Department. A total of 20 personnel were involved in the operation.

Upon arrival, responders observed heavy smoke and fire at the rear of the single-story residence. The fire had spread to the interior of the structure, with smoke visible from the eaves and attic vents. Crews faced the challenge of working in excessive heat.

The fire was knocked down in 18 minutes, with crews remaining on the scene for two hours for salvage and overhaul. Three occupants were injured; one was treated and released at the scene, while two were transported to Twin Cities Community Hospital.

The residence housed five occupants. The estimated property value saved is $400,000, while the estimated property value loss is $200,000. The estimated content value loss is $60,000. The fire originated on the exterior back patio and is currently under investigation.

Bridge Fire

The “Bridge Fire” was a vegetation fire that occurred adjacent to 10205 Morro Road at 4:09 p.m. The fire was reported by a homeowner.

Five engines and one command vehicle, with a total of 15 personnel, were dispatched to the scene. Cal Fire Engine 50 reported approximately one-third of an acre of grass and brush burning along the roadside at a moderate rate of spread upon arrival. Responding agencies included Cal Fire, Paso Robles Fire & Emergency Services, Templeton Fire & Emergency Services, and Atascadero State Hospital Fire.

The fire was suppressed, controlled, and confined without incident, and damage was limited to private property fence posts. No injuries were reported.

The fire occurred while multiple units were still on the scene of a residential structure fire. Cal Fire Engine 50 was covering the city for additional incidents and was able to respond for assistance. Homeowners and bystanders helped suppress the fire with garden hoses prior to the arrival of emergency personnel.

The fire was controlled in 58 minutes. The cause of the fire is undetermined.

Crews contain multiple fires in North County Tuesday

– Fire crews extinguished multiple fires in North County Tuesday.

Highway 41 West in between Morro Bay and Atascadero was closed Tuesday afternoon after a brush fire ignited in the area. The fire was just past San Gabriel Road near the three bridges area. This fire fire began around 4:11 p.m. It was contained shortly after. It grew to about three-quarters of an acre, according to reports. The cause was under investigation. No injuries were reported in this incident.

An earlier house fire on Tuesday in Atascadero sent a resident to the hospital with minor injuries, according to a report by the San Luis Obispo Tribune. This fire sparked around 3:21 p.m., and fully engulfed the attic, garage, back patio, and part of the house in flames. The cause of this fire is also under investigation.

Additionally, Cal Fire firefighters responded to a grass fire near the 8000 block of Compere Way in Paso Robles on Tuesday. Crews were able to contain the fire within about an hour, according to Cal Fire social media posts:
