Crews respond to suicidal person at Del Rio overpass
– In the early morning hours on Monday, emergency crews responded to the Del Rio Road overpass in Atascadero for a report of a suicidal suspect. The freeway was blocked during the incident. Crews were able to stop the potential suicide attempt and get the person, “the assistance they needed at the time,” according to Chief of Police Dan Suttles.
“Around 3:59 a.m. our dispatch was notified of the issue, and we responded to the area,” said Suttles. “Because of the personal and private nature of potential suicides, we don’t discuss many of the details. But I can tell you the individual received the assistance they needed at the time and the scene was cleared by 5:30 a.m.”
