Templeton community services districtTwo open positions are to fill the remainder of the terms ending on Dec. 3, 2024, and Dec. 1, 2026

– The Templeton Community Services District (CSD) is seeking community members to serve on its Board of Directors following the recent resignations of board members Pamela Jardini and Khouloud Pearson. The Templeton CSD, an independent government agency, provides water, sewer, fire and emergency services, solid waste, parks and recreation, as well as limited drainage and street lighting services to approximately 8,000 residents.

The board, composed of five members serving staggered four-year terms, meets on the first and third Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. Board members also serve on committees and may represent the district on regional agencies or commissions. They receive $150 per day for attending meetings or training, up to a maximum of $600 per month.

Effective board members do not need prior expertise in the district’s services but must dedicate time to understand the district’s issues, review materials before meetings, and collaborate with other board members, district staff, and the community to achieve the best outcomes for the district.

The two open positions are to fill the remainder of the terms ending on Dec. 3, 2024, and Dec. 1, 2026. Applicants must be registered voters residing within the district’s boundaries. The shorter term will be up for election in the Nov. 5, 2024, General Election, with the opportunity to run for a full four-year term starting Dec. 3, 2024. The nomination period for the Nov. 5, 2024, election is from July 15 to Aug. 19, 2024. Interested candidates should contact the County of San Luis Obispo Elections Office at (805) 781-5228 to schedule an appointment to obtain nomination papers.

Residents willing to serve on the board should complete the application available at Templeton CSD Public Service Application by July 9. Candidates are also encouraged to attend the board meeting on July 16 at 7 p.m. in the district board room at 206 5th Street, Templeton. Remote participation is available via Zoom at https://us02web.zoom.us/j/81096261127?pwd=anltY2xWUGRhSXlQUzVoWlFwZGFaUT09 or by calling (669) 900-6833 with Meeting ID 810 9626 1127 and passcode 003276. The board may consider making an appointment to the vacant seats during this meeting.

Applications can be mailed to the district office at P.O. Box 780, Templeton, CA 93465, dropped off at the district office at 420 Crocker Street, or emailed to the board clerk at [email protected].
