School district planning active shooter drill
– The Atascadero Police Department, Atascadero Fire & Emergency Services, and Atascadero Unified School District have jointly announced an upcoming active shooter training and crisis management exercise set for Apr. 2 and Apr. 5.
The exercise, organized in collaboration with the Atascadero Unified School District, will unfold at Atascadero High School during the spring break period.
Designed to bolster emergency response protocols for an active shooter incident on campus, the training initiative will involve simulations to test and refine police and fire response plans. The goal is to establish a coordinated, swift, and efficient response in the event of a crisis.
While the exercise will incorporate participation from select Atascadero High School staff, it will remain closed to the general public. This measure is implemented to foster an environment conducive to effective training and preparedness.
In a proactive measure aimed at transparency and clarity, the authorities are informing the public and campus community well in advance of the exercise. They express appreciation for the community’s understanding and cooperation as safety and preparedness take precedence through proactive training initiatives.
