The Morro Bay Art Association is set to host a Digital Art Workshop with artist Fred Ventura. The exclusive workshop, scheduled for March 9 and March 16, will take place from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Art Center in Morro Bay.

The two-hour sessions will delve into key aspects of digital art, covering topics such as Basic Tools and Working with Layers, Tips and Tricks, Symmetry, Simulated Artistic Effects, and Special Brushes. Participants will gain hands-on experience utilizing an iPad, Apple Pencil, and the Procreate App, learning the step-by-step process of creating remarkable digital art.

Ventura, known for his vibrant and detailed paintings inspired by nature, will lead the workshop. A Central Coast resident with extensive experience in education, Ventura aims to guide participants through demonstrations, providing individualized guidance and fostering real-time interactions between teacher and attendees. The workshop’s primary objective is for participants to complete multiple digital works of art, gradually increasing in complexity.

Ventura, holding a master’s degree and doctorate in education from the University of California, Santa Barbara, has a background in traditional watercolor and acrylic paintings. His distinctive style is showcased in the recent masterpiece “Rainforest Rhapsody.” Beyond his artistry, Ventura co-founded a software company in 1982 and currently develops educational apps for iOS, MacOS, and tvOS, available exclusively on Apple Computer’s App Store.

Open to individuals of all skill levels, from beginners to intermediate artists, the workshop provides a unique opportunity to connect with fellow artists, explore digital art techniques, and unleash creativity. Attendees are encouraged to bring an iPad, Apple Pencil, and the Procreate App to maximize participation.
