Atascadero Police Department shares holiday theft prevention tips

Atascadero police say human remains discovered are likely Native American

– The Atascadero Police Department has shared the following holiday safety tips to help deter theft.

Porch Pirates

Set reminders on you phone, sign up for text delivery notifications, and track the status of your purchases to beat the pirates to your door, or make arrangements for someone to pick them up for you.

Vehicle burglars

Never leave packages, purses, laptops, bags, or other desirable items in view inside your vehicle. The most straightforward task is often the most significant deterrent. Don’t forget to lock car doors. Keep your belongings secure and your car protected by double checking that your vehicle is locked.

Protect your home from prowlers

Getting gifts out early under your tree in front of your living room window is not a good idea. It may seem convenient to set the box from your new 75″ Black Friday score out on the curb for pickup, but beware, Santa isn’t the only person tip-toeing around your house this holiday season.
