Atascadero Police Department welcomes new solo officer 

Officer Julia Leyva is also a United States Marine Corps veteran

– The Atascadero Police Department recently extended its congratulations to Officer Julio Leyva as he embarked on his inaugural day as a solo officer.

Officer Leyva, a United States Marine Corps veteran, joined the ranks of the Atascadero Police Department before attending the police academy. Following his graduation, he embarked on a rigorous field training program, partnering with an experienced training officer. After a period of dedication and hard work, Officer Leyva was officially signed off on Nov. 1, marking his transition to independent duty.
