Robert Sanford.
– Robert “Bob” Emory Sanford (1930 – 2023), of Atascadero and South Lake Tahoe, Calif, and formerly of Redding Ridge, Conn., died on Feb 20, 2023.
After graduating from Danbury High in 1948, and UConn in 1952. Bob served in the U.S. Army from 1952–1954. His insurance career took Bob and his family from Connecticut to the West Coast where he became a partner at McGee & Thielen Insurance in Sacramento from 1967–1990. After retirement, he lived in Arizona, South Carolina, and moved back to California, where he spent his last 5 years near family.
He was married to Jean Grimshaw from 1953 -1972. Bob then married Joyce Long in 1972. He was preceded in death by his parents, Helen and Jesse Sanford; sister, Natalie Gardner; and wife, Joyce. He is survived by his sister, Sally Wistman; children, Cathy (Barry), Scott (Mary Ann), and Lisa Sanford (DeeDee); six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
His sense of humor, quick wit, and appreciation for the simple things in life will be missed by all his friends and family. No services will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Boys and Girls Club of Redding-Easton or Hospice of San Luis Obispo County.
