Art association donates art supplies to Toys for Tots
All donations stay in the local area
– The Atascadero Art Association recently partnered with Atascadero Kiwanis, Toys for Tots, Atascadero Helpers, and Loaves and Fishes to collect and buy art supplies for older children and youth of needy local families.
The Atascadero Art Association purchased over $700 worth of art supplies and art kits from a local retailer to be donated. During December children have been able to select art supplies, and food boxes will be distributed from the Armory during the Holiday Project. Many people donated additional supplies. The Artery on Traffic Way collected the donations.
Statement from Jack and Bonne Scott of the Atascadero Kiwanis is as follows:
Atascadero Kiwanis started Toys for Tots about 40 years ago. They started by providing used toys with the Christmas food giveaway at St. Williams Catholic Church. Four years later, the toys went from used toys to new toys – one for each child. For the last 20 or so years, Toys for Tots has combined with Coats for Kids and Loaves & Fishes at the Atascadero Armory for the Christmas giveaway. Toys for Tots collects and has available over 6,000 toys, books, and art supplies for distribution each year. All donations stay in the local area.
