Man dies in single-vehicle collision Monday morning on Highway 41

Driver ejected from vehicle, pronounced deceased at the scene

– On Monday at approximately 6:40 a.m., California Highway Patrol San Luis Obispo received a call of a traffic collision on Highway-4I south of Bear Ridge Rd. CHP Officers responded to the scene and located a 2001 Chevrolet off the roadway. 20-year-old Justin William West, of Los Osos, was reportedly located near the vehicle fully ejected. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Preliminary investigation reveal that West was traveling on Highway-41 southbound, south of Bear Ridge Rd., west of Atascadero. The driver left the southbound lane, traveled across the northbound lane, and drove off the road edge, where it overturned and came to rest down a short dirt embankment near the edge of private property, according to CHP.

The driver was unrestrained, and as a result of the rollover collision, was fully ejected from the vehicle. The time of the collision is undetermined, and it is believed the collision occurred early in the morning Monday.

Anyone with further information is asked to contact the CHP San Luis Obispo Office at (805)-594-8700.
