– More than two hundred people took part in the Long Walk Home for El Camino Homeless Organization (ECHO) on Saturday morning.

They left the ECHO Homeless Shelter in Atascadero at 10 a.m., then convened on the steps of the Rotunda. After a walk through Atascadero, they returned to the ECHO Shelter for a barbecue.

Many groups joined the walk from local businesses. North County Supervisors John Peschong and Debbie Arnold also took part.

Each participant paid $35 to take part in the walk. Wendy Lewis of ECHO says it will take a few days for them to tabulate the revenue generated. She says the Long Walk Home is the biggest fundraiser of the year for ECHO.

ECHO helps place homeless people in jobs and homes. It provides a safe place to live while directing clients to services in the community.
