Chamber launches economic development/business attraction webpage
New webpage will encourage business owners, property developers to relocate or expand into the area
– The Atascadero Chamber of Commerce is now offering an economic development resource to attract new businesses to Atascadero. The new webpage provides prospective business owners and property developers with demographic information and details about available real estate to encourage them to open, expand, or relocate business to the area. Site content is provided by REACH, a Regional Economic Action Coalition uniting public, private, and civic leaders across the Central Coast of California.
The webpage highlights labor statistics, housing, taxes, population, community, vitalization efforts, and growth potential. Local, regional, and state business resource contact information is also included.
The property locator feature is a robust database that allows users to search available sites, zoning, layering, and demographics for any location in Atascadero. The population feature shares information about age, gender, income, and education.
“Prospective business owners can now easily obtain information to make better-informed decisions,” said Josh Cross, chamber president and CEO. “For example, Atascadero has a labor force of 14,470 people, and an unemployment rate of 4-percent. This source even shares the percentages of talent by occupation, from office and administrative support to food preparation and serving.”
According to the website, Atascadero has a total of 1,364 businesses. In 2021, the leading industries in Atascadero were health care and social services, retail, accommodation and food services, and construction.
Households in Atascadero earn a median yearly income of $83,241 and 56.34-percent of the households earn more than the national average each year. Household expenditures average $75,660 per year, with the majority of earnings spent on shelter, transportation, food and beverages, health care, and utilities.
According to the Atascadero Community Development Department, communities that proactively work on economic development build talent to fill local jobs and ensure a balance of homes and local companies for those employees to work. This results in more places where those residents and workers can play, shop, and enjoy life on the Central Coast.
Cross said that there are several things that make Atascadero a growing economic hub in northern SLO County. “Atascadero is in the midst of an economic upswing fueled by private investments. Restaurants and retail are attracting more visitors, and Chamber events such as the quarterly Art & Wine Tours and the Atascadero Lakeside Wine Festival help to bring tourists to shop locally. We’re excited to see the new La Plaza building businesses and others boost economic development and offer amenities for visitors and residents alike.”
